Kathy Macaraeg owned a senior transportation service in Los Angeles for nine years. In that role, she became an advisor to the adult children and their aging parents on everything from transportation needs, managing dementia care, dealing with depression due to loneliness and navigating their new life stages.
Working directly with aging clients and family caregivers, Kathy was able to gain the unique perspective of both caregivers and their loved ones. After closing the transportation service, Kathy started CaregivingMadeEasy.com, a blog where she shares her unique perspective with caregivers to help them navigate the caregiving journey.
In addition to her blog, Kathy has published a book on helping guide aging parents through the process of giving up the car keys. The book, "Taking The Keys Away From Elderly Parents: How To Help Your Parents Give Up Driving And Set Them Up For Success," addresses how to help your aging parent transition from driver to permanent passenger.
Kathy is certified in Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Caregiving by the Schmieding Center for Senior Health and Education. She also holds workshops on senior transportation options and resources for caregivers in Los Angeles, where she lives with her husband and sons.
